Where should I order meat birds from? Cheap is good, but we don't want to get birds that are going to be DOA or just poor performers.

Where do you order them from?

Try and find a hatchery that will get your birds to you quickly. Check to see delivery options and where they will be routed through so it doesn't take an extra day.

I purchased 50 Cxs from Welp six weeks ago. I lost one at day 2 and the other 52 are doing great. Yes 52, I didn't count them when I put them into the brooder. and was pleasantly suprised when I did count them when they went to the coop.

I'll be definitly reordering from Welp this fall for the next batch.

I ordered from Central Hatchery. They are the cheapest, but you have to order straight run. I ordered 50, got 52, I'm raising half and my bro-in-law the other half. All 52 are still doing well at 6 weeks. Next time I will order from schlects though. For an extra 20 cents a chick I can get all cockerels.

Thnx! Just ordered from Whelp (<$2 per bird after shipping / mereks seems like a spankin good deal)
