I've never dealt with this in the summer! Weather is so strange this year...

So it'll most likely be in the 70's night/ 90's day once the chicks come in. They should be 2-3 day old sexed pullets (ha, we'll see).

I was planning to use the garage as usual, but with this weather... can I set them up on the back porch (secured, of course)? I assume brooded chicks are used to wind from day 1- so would this be an issue as long as I have a warm area which blocks any wind for them to retreat to?

    Arg!

You will need a area around 95 degrees that they can go to when they want to warm----Brooded chicks probably have never been in the wind and at 3 days old I would not want mine in the wind----so I would also block the un-heated area from the wind some. Good Luck

I keep all my day olds in my house in a bin in the bathroom, with a heat lamp. but depends on how many you have...
