I noticed today on one of our barred rock hens some white discoloration on her upper beak and some comb. Nostrils and eyes look fine, and there is no discharge. And we've had a warm spell here in mn, so I'm not thinking frostbite... None of my searches are yielding results that appear to be like her. She is molting currently, but even so, is not acting sick or lethargic. Anyone have any ideas? Allergies would have discharge...

Do an on site search on 'Favus'. Perhaps that is what she is dealing with.

That may be pointing in the right direction, but Internet search result photos are always so alarming! She luckily isn't looking too bad yet. Thanks!

Just keep an eye on her and things should be fine. You can always treat if it starts to spread.
