I was surprised this morning to collect a white egg from my RIRs and Plymouth Rock hens. What's the deal?

My PR's eggs are usually pink. Longer than the BO's eggs too.
    Maybe something she ate??

My grandmother used to say the older a chicken got, the lighter their eggs became. How old is she? I'm not sure if that's true because I've never heard it from anywhere other than her and the oldest in my flock are only almost 2.

All my hens are almost a year old. Could it have been stress? I had them locked in their coop for 2 days due to inclement weather.
