I live in Florida and Ive never seen a large hawk this color before.
It has a lot of white. It showed up about two weeks ago and is keeping a eye on my chickens :(
Lots of other birds and squirrels around, but I haven't let my chickens out to spread all the horse poop since I started seeing him!

Wise idea - hawks can be rough on a flock!

I have a similar situation, I have seen the Same hawk three times with in a week. We have 2 acres lots of trees, we free range mostly they have a long 200ft x 10-15 wide open run that connects to their secure covers 8x8 run attached to the coop with electric wire around the perimeter.
I'm wondering what I could do for cover in the long run?

I was told fishing line crisscrossed will stop them. I don't know for sure though.
Since my post I stopped seeing the big Hawk and started letting my flock of seven resume there favorite past time of destroying piles of horse poop ! :)
