White in front corners of eyes

I have a Cayuga female with white in the front corner of both her eyes. Does anyone know what this is from. I'm afraid to take her to the vet because she is laying her first clutch of eggs.

is she able to clean her face/ submerge it in water?

It went away as sudden as it came. She doesn't seem be have any problems or irritation.

Sometimes they close that inner membrane on their eye, especially when they are drilling in mud. I think it's called the nictitating membrane.
