I have 3 white leghorn ladies that where born April 5 (2011) which would make them just under 16 weeks. Four days ago we adopted two Cuckoo Marans that are current layer. Two days ago I went to the coop and found a nice brown Maran egg waiting for me, which I expected, but about an hour later I found a little white leghorn egg. Yesterday there was another Maran egg and today another leghorn egg. Now they are only 15 weeks so is this OK for them and is premature laying because of the older Cuckoo Marans? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Carrie

Our leghorn started very early like this also. Leghorns are production hens, so I don't think it is terribly unusual. I don't believe the Marans had anything to do with it.
Enjoy those eggs!

Cool, I'm glad to hear that, I have 16 Brown Leghorns in the brooder. Just 14 more weeks to go!
