An idea what this could be? Chicken white pox? Looks like it’s spreading into my chicken coop.

I’m always checking under microscope for mites but never find any. But I think you’re right.

I looked carefully and most of my hens have similar symptoms, plus some of them have little scaly legs. I’m pretty sure they have scaly face mites. All of them have been treated with ivermectin. I emptied the coop, desinfected it with Vircon, did whitewashing with lime. Than I put some DE and sulphur powder under the new bedding. The girls looks happy! ☺️

Thanks a lot, you guided me into the right diagnostic! ☺️

My little d’Uccle hen is getting worse. I treated her with ivermectin yesterday. I’m no longer sure I’m dealing with scaly face or leg mites. I do not know what else I can do.

Besides the ivermectin treatment (dosage is 0.1 ml per each 2 pounds of weight given once on the back of the neck midline along the spine, and repeat in 14 days,) I would also use an antifungal cream on the face and head where the white patches are. That way in case, there is favus, it will treat that, and the ivermectin should treat the possible face mites, and the leg mites. Lotrimin (clotrimazole) and Monistat 7 (miconazole) which are found in generic are good antifungal creams. Use gloves to apply.

I have clotrimazle at home so I did what you suggested. I treated the face with it and one leg. I tried Bag Balm on the other one.

Reminds me that an other hen had lesions on her feets (similar than this one hen but not as bad) and after applying Blu-Kote a couple of time on it, it’s way better. And Blu-Kote is antifungal.

It’s spreading in my coop. More and more hens are getting it. Same thing with my 3 weeks old chicks. I also lots 7 of them out of 15 chicks. Can favus spread all over the chicken coop like that? If it’s favus, can I treat all of them in, lets say, drinking water?
