Hello this is my first post. I have a one year white slikie that has a red waddle, comb, face coloring. I also have a three month old sikie that is black on the wadle,comb.face. In all the sites on chickens they say a black face is what they should have. So my question is how did the the older bird come out with its diffrient coloring. They came from diffrent hatcherys. Thank you for your answers.

Quote:Here's your answer, they're hatchery birds. If these had come from a breeder, you may wonder why one would have a red comb/wattles, but being from a hatchery, where they breed for quantity as opposed to quality, it's not uncommon to see silkies with DQs.

some silkies just have lighter skin coloring than others, so when their faces turn red you can see it more in some, but it sounds like nothing to worry about [IMG]
