We got a couple silkie chicks from townline hatchery last spring. The silkie roo has a single comb. My daughter showed him in 4H last year and the judge loved him but I have never seen a silkie or owned one with a single comb. He didn't win but he came in 3rd out of about 75 chickens. Would he be a dq if showed in a regular show?

Yes, he would be DQed. Silkies are supposed to have a "walnut" comb. I wouldn't use him for breeding either, he will pass it on. JMO

Thank you, that is what I thought. I only have him with my laying flock as I didn't want him to be lonely. We got just the 2 chicks and just happened to be him and a white hen but her comb is walnut so since they both came from twonline I am sure she has the single comb in her genes as well. will keep her as a broody hen.
