White thread-like things on her face

These are on both sides of her face. I don't see them on any of the other chickens or anywhere else on her.

She was broody for 31 days ending almost a month ago. She is again now (day 1). I'm not letting her this time.

At least one of the australorps is either beginning to molt or beginning a summer molt... as of a week ago. I can't tell from looking at them but I see a few feathers.

I have been cleaning the coop so there is lots of extra dust in the air.

What is it? Should I look closer for a cause (mites, maybe)?

My silkie and her pin feathers coming in. FYI they are very sensitive and can be painful to the chicken if you handle them

Yes! What she said!

New feathers are super sensitive. They look like you could 'help' by pulling off that thin cover, but it really hurts. I once barely touched one on a duckling's wing and she made the saddest, most heartbreaking whimper you ever heard.


But the good news is your baby is doing great! :)
