My chicks are 5 wks. old now, is it too soon to tell? What are the signs? Do females spar with each other like little fighters too?

What breed are they? My Dominiques are starting to look like one sex or the other. A few have obviously bigger combs. Some are still in the mystery zone though. [IMG]

Buff Orpington, Rhode Island Red, Barred Rock, Gold laced Wyandott.
No obvious comb difference, the Red and the Buff have larger, more erect tails.
The Barred Rocks are only 4 wks old.
    They do grow fast !

Quote:Hey, all you need are some EE's and you've got a matching flock to mine!

The Buff Orpington showed us his lovely comb when he was 5 weeks old. Bummer, I didn't want any roosters. Oh well.

The GLW's are tricky, several people told me based on 5 or 6 week old pictures I had two roosters, but it turned out they're pullets (thankfully!)

Those are the only two I have any experience with, the BRs, RIRs and EEs all seem to be girls.

    Good luck!
