    Australorps lay much more frequently.

I have one Jersey Black Giant hen, who is almost 3 years old. She lays 4 or 5 eggs a week, except in winter, when she averages 2 or 3 eggs a week.

I don't have experience with either breed, but my Irish Setter lays on the couch every day does that count?

I'm pretty sure the black Aussies hold the record for egg laying chickens.

As everyone knows, I used to be a "totally BIG bird person". After I got just one silkie, I accumulated like 10 in a week. I just love them all. [IMG]

Actually leghorns hold the record, but between the australorps and giants the consensus sems to be the aussies.

That's the one that cracked me up. How may eggs are we expecting from the miniature ponies?
