My husband finally got around to taking some bags of partially decomposed deep litter duck bedding and dumping them in our compost area. The chickens were thrilled, especially when a mouse ran out! It took approximately 2 seconds for a hen to pounce on it and about 2 seconds after that for the rest of the them to try to steal. Good thing that our chickens are good mousers since our 3 kittens would rather be inside than outside! #BackYardVelociraptors

And another video of the chickens scratching in the bedding eating worms. Best entertainment ever!

This is so true...they are such good little hunters. Any mouse or lizard that is unfortunate enough to find their way into the run doesn't last very long!

They are little dinosaurs, after all, and they sure seem to know it. Wish they bothered to kill the poor mice instead of tearing them apart alive, though.

Oh, don't worry, the first hen spiked the mouse onto the ground several times before any of the others joined in. So it was probably at least knocked up - I'm sure that makes it all better. :sick
