So I have 5-6 month old chickens that have and since they were babies and two new (year old) silkies I have had now

for a week and couple days. In the nesting box I found a small brown egg... The thing is, I don't know who's egg it

could be, well I guess I am asking do silkie's have brown small eggs and not white, and/or are my 5-6 month old hens

    old enough to start laying?

A lot of silkies lay a small light brown egg, but at that age your other girls are more than old enough to start laying whatever the breed. Usually figure on them starting at 18-20 weeks for egg layers like leghorns and sex links, and a little older than that for the fancy breeds.

Knowing what other breeds of hens you have would sure help.

Out of those either the light brahma or the wyandotte probably (hopefully your Am will lay a blue/green egg), of those two, would guess the wyandotte since some do lay darkish brown eggs.
