Will someone please tell me what breed of chicken this is?!

When I picked up my new hens in April, she was the biggest of the bunch. Now she's the smallest... She was a black and yellow chick, and the hatchery told me she was a barred rock... after a couple of weeks I could tell they were DEFINITELY mistaken. :idunno

Interesting! So, she'd be a Buff Japanese Bantam, and she'll have a lightly tinted egg... correct?

Out of curiosity, what did she look like as a chick?

She looked like a buff orpington chick but with black highlights. Actually, now that I think about it, she did not look much different than she looks now... she was a big chick. She just stopped growing earlier than the others I got at the same time. She's now about 5 months old.

Does she get along well with your flock of bigger chickens?

Oh yes!! When she was little, she was very dominant. Named her Lucy. When she got into the coop, she tried bossing the others! That didn't work well for her... now she has settled into a genuine "follower"... and flyer! WOW does she fly. I keep their wings clipped, and even so, she can go about 15 yards at roughly 3 feet off the ground. Freaked me out the first time I saw her! I'm thinking I might have to clip her wings even more. I can't wait to see what she's like at maturity. :)
