    I found my hen's ripped off head by my food dish in a fenced yard and her body by the fence. Her guts and meaty parts were eaten (by her predator or her flock mates, I can't tell). Raccoon is my best guess.

    From all of the unfortunate stories I've read on here, it's sounds like a raccoon. I'm sorry for your loss.

    Thank you:) My 8yo is taking it the hardest, but at least we have a bunch more! This one was my favorite though...she was the one that would be standing at the front door in the morning (when we free ranged), waiting for food! She once tried to walk in, like she belong inside!
