Why are my chickens losing feathers on the back of there necks?

    We went outside and noticed one of our chickens where losing feathers on the back of there neck...

    It may be molting, it may be mites, it may be an overattentive rooster (if it's a hen). Can you give us some more info? How old is the chicken, rooster or hen, did you treat for mites etc.

    Its a hen, And it is nine months old and it has not been tested for mites. I will send you a picture tomorrow.

    No. We don't.
     
  8. Given the time of year, I'd guess molting.
