Because they come running when they see me!

Because they pose for pictures

Because they are excellent mothers

We had a young hen last year that every afternoon she would fly out of the pen and out into the field, do a big circle and come back in over the house for a landing. About a 2 minute flight, she was the best flyer we ever had. Then she got older and gained some weight, no more flying around for her.
