Why does my hen walk backwards, shaking her head?

Mine walk backwards if I put a crop bra or chicken harness on them. My daughter put a rabbit harness/leash on a hen and it did back flips.

More seriously, something is affecting your neurologically.

Does she do this all the time or only on occasion? My EE started doing something similar because she gets pecked at by my Welsummer and that's her submission stance (though it's become something of a nervous tic too whenever something startles her).

I am interested in this too, I have a RIR who will on occasion walk backwards while shaking her head. Been wanting to catch her on video doing it, it is really amusing!

My rooster, when he sees me, sometimes flaps his wings once or twice then bows his head and backs up about three steps. This began after he had to get some serious what-fors from me after attacking people. It looks like a submissive gesture to me, but I'm not sure. Is this what your hen is doing?
