Why dont more people have ducks as house pets?!

My ducks are happy as outside ducks. And I'm happy having them pooping outside and molting outside.
They have their pond for swimming and relaxing and the back yard for rooting around looking for stuff to eat. Any bugs they'd find in here have been poisoned.

My dogs let themselves out to potty and puke, when needed. I'm not changing animal diapers.

Abby's (great dane) drool is enough animal mess in the house. DH has taken to calling her "livestock"

Hey if it works for you that is great.

Although, to answer a question with a question .. i have to ask why a house duck?

i mean to me duck belongs in a flock, outside exploring eating bugs, going in water.. poking it's head in the dirt..

For a proper answer as to why i do not, simple. I have cats and dogs, birds, fish and rabbits plus several kids in my house already, it's crazy enough without adding a duck to it

Mine seem quite content in there outdoor surroundings. I mean i do joke on cold winter days i'd like to put the horses in the front hall but realistically there not house pets either.

LOL why a house duck? Well we are moving to an apartment this weekend, and they wont accept a dog or a cat. But they accept birds. So....he is the only one of my babies I can bring :-(. I have rehomed my dog and my cat, and my guinneas and my hen. But Donald is comming with me. I raised him from 2 days old, and thought about rehoming him....and just cant.

Just because they wouldn't have a duck in the house doesn't mean they don't like ducks, you certainly wouldn't catch me with a horse in the house but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Your lucky. My dog would poop outside but would hurl ALL over the house. He was a basset hound and had the typical basset stomach. Ate too early? Puke...Ate to much? Puke. Ate to little? Puke. Forgot to fart after eating? Puke.

He became an outside dog pretty quickly. Compared to him, donald is a stuffed toy.
