In the new October issue of Foodnetwork magazine, There is a section in the back called "good question". Somebody asked if there was a difference in brown and white eggs. They replied (and I qoute)
....Generally, brown eggs come from red feathered breeds and white eggs come from pale breeds. Brown eggs do tend to be more expensive, however. Most red-feathered chickens grow to a larger size than white ones, so they require more feed and are more costly to raise.

You think they would research this better???

I have already sent them a message with a link to feathersite.com and some breeds to look at....

good thing you wrote to them.. they need to give correct information, hope to see a correction in the next issue..

Really.

I wonder what reasoning supposedly causes blue eggs. Oxygen deprivation?

Brown eggs are more expensive because it does take a bit more feed for those types of birds to have good pigment in the eggs. It's not a huge difference though.
