...do they show pictures of kids and adults holding chickens up against their chests and sitting on their knees? I thought you you should never hold a chicken...at least like that. Because they can give you that disease that starts with a S.

    Thanks,

Salmonella? You can hold chickens. And you're supposed to hold them like that. Just wash your hands afterwards.

    Yes, Salmonella.

I got my chicks from TSC and one of the employees said you should never hold a chicken or you will get the disease, (Salmonella.)

Not true. Just wash your hands and clean your coops.

Should you change your clothes where the chicken touched?

If they just brush against it it's probably no big deal. If you sit and hold a chicken for awhile you may at least want to change your clothes before you prepare a meal or hug someone.

kinda like folks who won't let a dog lick their face. Or you shouldn't kiss a dog. WHAT??

I like to kiss them on their muzzle (back from their nose which may have gone bad places). I love dogs. Wouldn't try it on a cat - they'd probably scratch my eyes out.

I hug my chickens all the time and sit with them on my lap/shoulder or pet them, they are way too adorable not to. I just make sure to wash up with antibacterial soap afterwards. If you keep their coop meticulously clean then your birds will be clean too.
