I have 6 hens 2 are laying but the last one just started, and the 2 eggs it has given me have both been cracked like dropped, So I really looked today and it seems she is pushing all nesting to one side and laying straight on to the wood.

WHAT SHOULD I DO!!!!!!!

Try and put a flat piece of cardboard or rubber shelf liner down, under the nesting materials. That may cushion the egg's fall, and maybe she won't be able to push it aside.

I can stable it down maybe like a pillow case doubled up, thanks so much new to this. Adding on fast started with 3 and 2 days later got 3 more now going to go ahead and get 6 more so I have 12. Still learning but have enjoyed the last week and a half alot hanging out with my chickens

Hi! I had one do this when she first started. I lined the bottom of the nest boxes with sheets of craft foam. Turned out to be handy, makes them very easy to clean when necessary!

Thank you so much I went and found old pillow cases figured I would need at least 2 so I can clean one but the craft foam sounds super

Ooh, thanks for the idea. I have the same problem, and I've just been rearranging the bedding all the time. I like the idea of a shelf liner.
