Why is my pekin duckling white?

I have had hundreds of pekin ducklings but I hatched one that came out with a white patch on it's head and a white belly and tail. I asked around and only found 1 person who has had this and they said it had to be culled. They are 11 days old today and doing great she's gotten alot whiter and the rest are still all yellow. Just curious if this means shell be a different colour when older or what?

I honestly don't see that person's logic in culling the white one, simply because it is different. Genetic purity, or some such nonsense? If anything, I would feel very lucky to have a little beauty like that white one!
Personally, I'd prefer to cull certain commenters.

You won't notice a difference once the feathers come in..Pekin are white.. Lots are also hatched with Black spots on the down too..Nothing to worry about..

I could almost bet that the white one is a female! Idk but I don't think anything is wrong with it! Super cute!!

No I'm definitely keeping it and yes it's a female, lucked out with 2 males out of 8 hatched. Just curious if anyone else has had one like this and if it was different from the rest as an adult.

The one that had to be culled was a runt and wasn't doing so good. They didn't off it just it was white. Sorry about the misunderstanding
