I just went out to the coop to see if wehad any eggs.. and I seen my Cinnamon doing this?
I've seen her lay numerous of times and she's NEVER done this.
After staying with her a couple of minutes a huge egg drops.. not like her normal size eggs. She was also making a weird breathing noise but it stopped as soon as the egg came out.
Her eggs have always been pretty small.. she's a fairly new layer.. started in Dec.

Did she skip a day laying yesterday? Ours lay bigger after a day off.

But that does look rather unusual. I'm afraid I have no insight. But watching to see what others say!

I've heard there is a concern with layers laying too much, too young, hence lower protein layer feed to allow their bodies to grow up enough to where they are ready to handle the stress of laying.

Has she shown any unusual behavior before?

X2 on FM Farm's question: How is she doing now?

She is doing fine now! Right after she was done she didn't skip a beat.

And I have them on layer feed and a little scratch.. but they free range all day.

I got her when she was 13 months in Dec.. so would she still be too young to have her on layer feed?

But no weird behavior before this.. she's my one hen that likes human affection so she's always around me.

And she skipped an egg day the day before yday.

Thanks y'all!
