It makes me wonder why smaller duck breeds that are mallard based have bigger eggs than a large breed duck like Muscovy. My Muscovies are humongous ducks but their eggs are smaller than some bantam chicken. While Mallard breeds like runners, Have very large eggs. Is there an explanation why muscovy eggs are small?

How old are the Muscovy?

Well my take is Muscovy haven’t been messed with by man they are pretty much like they have always been. Including the size of their eggs. All other breeds that were created from the Mallard are mostly bred for egg production and size so of course they are going to be completely different in all ways to Muscovy just my 2cents.

I don't know about that. My Muscovies lay eggs that are huge. Two eggs on the palm of my hand. Our Rouen lays an egg that is maybe a large chicken egg. Maybe it's because my Muscovies each anything that moves, therefore downing tons of protein.
