Why

I have 11 8 weeks old chicks they started eating each other a little but I separated them 6 are pullets and 6 are americunas they are now starting to go underneath each other does anyone know why?

Are they in a coop yet? How big is it? It sounds like they are demonstrating behavior associated with being crowded.
