I have a 2.5 yr old buff orpington. I just got her about 8 days ago. 4 or 5 days ago she laid this egg (pic added). Since she has slowly gone off her food and today she has an empty crop. She is drinking. I was told this is not a lash egg but just abnormal and probably a calcium issue. I was wondering about this Tums booster idea. Can it be crushed and fed by syringe? She's not eating anything so I think I'd have to force feed her. I also have probiotics that had vit d3 and other vitamins I am planning on giving her. Her feed before I got her was broiler feed. She's now on egg layer pellets but hasn't eaten enough to make an impact. She's getting very thin. This egg was huge, super soft. The yolk was normal but the whites were watery. It had this tissue all lumpy around it a piece of tissue that hung off it

Im so sorry she's not well. I've tagged some very knowledgeable and experienced members that have offered their thoughts and suggestions on things such as this. Poster before this is likely to be knowledgeable as well. Do you have Calcium Citrate + vit d3 (human Citracal)? I use that for egg issues but it sounds like your hen needs further attention.

Also, do you feel any swelling in her abdomen?

This is just a guess based on intuition, but I believe your hen has an infection. It may be a reproductive infection or something more serious. Does she have any respiratory symptoms? Rattling as she breathes? Nasal discharge? Runny, bubbly eyes?

I would try her on an antibiotic. I like fish mox which you can buy online or at many pet supply stores. It's for fish but 250mg capsules can be popped into the beak, one per day for ten days.

If her eggs lack a shell, she does need a calcium supplement. This is the one I recommend as it's easily digested and absorbed. One tablet per day directly into the beak. Do this until her eggs are coming out with a decent shell.

I agree. It looks like a soft shelled egg to me....and fish mox may help her.

Looks like a lot of membranes wrapped together forming a soft shelled egg.
Stayed in the shell gland for a good while likely. I agree, not lash egg.

I would give her 1 Caltrate daily and consider antibiotics. Amoxicillin would be a good choice.
Make sure her crop is emptying well overnight and get her hydrated.
You can make the layer feed into a wet mash to see if she's more interested in that. Bits of egg may be enticing as well.

I tried scrambled egg. No go. Didn't want yogurt or turkey meat from my soup. No greens. Not even pecking at it. She's completely empty and not eating anything and getting thin. She is still drinking. I will try the mash. I'll see if tsc has the caltrate and antbiotics. Thank you.
