Anyhow i am putting together a brown egg laying flock and dont particularly care what kind of rooster to add to the coop. So my wife wants some Flashy Eye Candy type of rooster so I am asking on her behalf what you think the "Prettiest" breed of Roo is? Thanks for your input!

That's really too subjective. Hard to say for someone else. I love my Blue Orp rooster, Suede, in my avatar, but I also think a Blue Wheaten Ameraucana boy is gorgeous as is a Welsummer roo.

Edited to Add: My favorite breed is the Barred Plymouth Rock, but some people dont think they're flashy. I think they're gorgeous and I have two of those roosters.

Are you wanting to stick with brown egg layer breeds??

Barred Rock are nice.

If you dont care about breed

Golden Campine

If planning to hatch and wanting to get pure stick with a breed you already plan to get. You could always tell her you are getting Pullets, but know you will get at least one or two roos that 10% can work in your favor.

I agree with the Ameraucana/ee roo suggested. I also think the cuckoo marans rooster can be really good looking birds. I have bantam roosters and i find them much less intimidating. The eggs might not always (hardly ever) be fertile..........but its not lack of effort

Some of the most handsome roos I have ever seen have been mix breeds! Have your wife look on the net and see if you can find one SHE thinks is handsome..Dixie

Do let her see a picture of a blue Wheaton Ameraucana rooster. I just saw one tonight. I think the hens are pretty, too. They come in bantam and large varieties.

Here's a place to look. The links on the left will advise you on how to acquire one from a breeder because most hatcheries send Easter Eggers instead of true Ameraucanas.

I say she should go to feathersite and go down the list of breeds and click away. That way she can make a list of eye candy she likes and then you can pick from that depending on what is and isn't readily available. To take in mind that if she finds crested breeds or some of the more exotic types good eye candy, you may have to compromise as they may not do well in a utility flock.
