we had a couple of wild coloured drake runners 2 months back, sadly one got stepped on by a donkey not long after so we took the plunge and got the surviving drake a girlfriend. just 2 weeks later his girl dissappeared one night, no sign of a struggle or fight, no sign of predator entrance or dead body....that was three weeks ago. sign his gf's absence our remaining drakes colouring has started fading. he's not moulting (no loose feathers or missing feathers) but his colour is dissapearing. instead of the nice wild colour he's now pale and white in most feathers, and a brown washed out colour in the rest.....

is my drake sick??? is he stressed from the loss of his two friends? is he lonely? or is this a normal part of a runners life?

    #1 pictures always help
#2 its really just that time of year for them to start going into eclipse plumage
#3 i've found that even before they molt the feather quality drops severely and gets dry and can get lighter
