For a while now my pekin hen has been haveing a lovely vistitor, a mallard drake! Every year at our pond there are some wild ducklings born and this is my first year with the pekin. I was wondering if when springtimes come I might find some mallard pekin ducklings?[IMG]Anyone else have any experiance with this????

I don't know anything about ducks, but that would be really cool.

Well, it is possible. Pekin are not known to be the best broodies so she may not set.

You do want to be careful about allowing wild birds (any birds not just ducks) around yours as they can carry diseases that are not present in your birds. They also can carry pests, lice mites etc. Because wild birds migrate, you run the risk of your birds picking up something that is not common in your area but is in an area that the wild bird migrates to.
