they are different breeds? I was thinking about buying 3 Golden Sebright Hens and 1 Golden Sebright Rooster AND 3 Silver Sebright Hens and 1 Silver Sebright Rooster. My question is will the 2 roosters fight?

At one point I had 10 hens and 2 Roos and yes the Roos fight. They fought all the time, but I was too attached 2 them both to get rid of one or the other. I have had my 2 boys for almost 3 years now and they still co-habitate but they no longer fight. Just a little bit a chasing when 1 or the other tries to get too friendly with a hen. I have a "leading man" rooster and a sneaky "back-door" man. They seem to have worked it out.
1 word of advice, 2 Roos w/ only 6 hens between them will really give your girls a work out. You may want to re-think having 2 roos for the sake of your hens.

Ok, but sometimes (in rare occasions maybe) can they be nice to each other? Like they might be like best buds or something?

Well, it depends on your situation...

Are you planning to breed? It sounds like your planning to breed to get purebred colors. If so, you will have to keep the colors in seperate pens, so the roo's wont have contact with the other hens, or each other- thus no fighting will be possible.

Are you planning on getting chicks to start? Sometimes if they are raised together, the really bad fights can be avoided since they are familiar with each other. Note I said the really bad fights, there will still be some fighting if they are penned together, just due to hormones and dominance issues and wanting the hens to themselves.

I agree- 6 hens to 2 roos is not enough hens, unless you plan to keep the roo's locked up away from the hens except during supervized breeding times. I have about 8 roos of different ages in my flock, but one older dominate roo kinda keeps them all in line. BUT, I have at least 28 hens and pullets to help spread the 'love' around. The juvie roo's are not an issue yet, but they will be eaten soon anyways, so I dont worry to much about them bugging the hens. I dont breed, so mixed breed eggs arent an issue either.

I guess the short answer is Yes, they will fight some, over many different issues, but you can do things to help keep it from getting ugly. Its not a breed thing, its a roo thing. [IMG]

It would be really nice if they could, but it goes against their instinct to dominate and have as many ladies as possible. If you do go ahead with 2 roos, you will want to look into chicken saddles for your girls.

Then I might just get 1 rooster! A question on the side though: Can a Golden Sebright Roo mate with a Silver Sebright Hen? If so, what will the chicks look like? Will they have streaks of gold AND silver? That would look awesome [IMG]

A roo will mate with any hen, they don't discriminate! Don't know what your chicks would look like.
