will ducks come back to pen?

I have 4 ducks about 4 months old. They have been in their new pen (8 x 8) for abot 2 months now. I have nice big pond approx. Half acre away from the barn where duck pen is. I really want to start letting them enjoy the pond.

So my question is, will they return to pen like chickens do to coop?

They won't return as reliably as chickens do. You kind of need to get them into a routine by throwing out a few treats into their pen in the evening and then hopefully they will come to expect it and get used to coming to the pen at the end of the day. I think I would get them used to a routine before letting them go out on the pond.

I have to bribe my elder ducks into the house with food EVERY night. I would prefer not to have that mess in the house.
