Will hens use the same laying box?

I've been reading on here about the quantity of eggs that hens will lay, but what about the location? Today I got three eggs from my three hens. But all three eggs were in the same laying box. Is this normal? I've read that sometimes a chicken will lay more than one egg, but will they squat over another hens egg and lay one beside it? This is not unusual for me either. There are usually two in one box, but sometimes there are three.

Completely normal -- hens are drawn to lay in a place where other hens have already laid. This is why "bait" eggs in nest boxes are used to show new layers where they should deposit their eggs.

Hens producing more than one egg in the same day is far more rare than you might thing from what you read onilne - kind of like crowing hens, happens but far more rare than some would have you believe.
