    Yes!! That's exactly how it works!! I'm going to breed my buff orp to my blue andalusian to get a green chicken!

    I know they used to inject food coloring into eggs ( please don't ask me what stage) and the chicks would hatch that color untill they grew feathers in??? so ya.. you can have a purple chick.. good luck on the purple chicken though
