I got chicks from a hatchery in mid october.. At first they grew very fast for the 1st 2 months, but now, they are almost the same size as they were at 2 months. I now bought egg layer pellets cause my chickens are starting to lay again.. Will feeding the chicks egg layer pellets make them grow faster cause of the higher protein? I used to only feed the chicks cracked corn and somtimes bread..

They really should have been getting chick starter feed. They are really too young to eat layer and should be given grower feed now -- although layer is probably preferable to bread and corn.

They may well be a little stunted by now. They need the nutrients from the begining. Bread and corn just won't get it.
