Thinking the fertile eggs I'd bought my broody hen had died (because they were cold one night when I came home and she wasn't sitting on them), I ordered her a new set. They arrive tomorrow.
On the advice of some on the board , I left the old eggs under her.
Now one of the eggs is peeping! It's going to hatch. I'm not sure about the other 2.
Now things get a little more complicated.
What should I do about the eggs that arrive tomorrow?
Will a hen with a little baby chick still be broody? Will she want to sit on another set of eggs, while taking care of her new young?
I'm SOOO excited that one is actually going to hatch -- but now I need to figure out what to do about the new set.
Thanks.
