Will Pekins lay in the winter???

We have khaki Campbell's assuming most ducks are alike ..ours lay all year round, but then again we live in northwest fl so it doesn't get extremely cold and snowy here.

As this is in chicken behaviour as opposed to duck behaviour, I can only give you an opinion on Pekin bantam chickens.

I have one Pekin bantam chicken who is almost 2yrs old and has not laid an egg this winter due to moulting. However, I acquire some peking frizzle bantams last weekend and they are laying regularly.

Much will depend on: age; breed; moult; temprement; climate; daylight hours; personality; feed; desire; husbandry; mites/lice. Too many variables to give a definitive answer.

my pekin has been more consistent with laying that my chickens so far this winter. this is my first winter with birds old enough to lay though, also each bird can be different, also as far as duck breeds, khaki's are in a different category all together that pekns when it comes to egg laying.
