1. Will the offspring of 2 Olive Eggers lay olive colored eggs? If so, will they be the same shade as the hen lays?

2. What color eggs will the offspring of an Olive Egger Roo X White egg layer hen be?

3. What color eggs will the offspring of an Olive Egger Too X Brown egg layer hen be?

Thank you!

1. Maybe, maybe not. There is no olive egg color gene. The olive colored egg is caused by a combination of brown and blue egg genes. If the olive eggers in question are F1 generation, then each of them possess just one blue egg gene and half of the pairs of brown egg genes. Some of the offspring in the F2 generation may lay blue eggs, olive eggs, brown eggs, green eggs and there is even the possibility of some white egg layers.

2. Possibly blue, green, brown or even white.

3. Possibly green, olive or brown.
