will they come back

i have had my chickens since May, in the coop at night, in the run during the day. If I open the door and let them free range how far away will they go ?and when should I expect them back to the coop?

Mine don't go very far. They don't spend time in the run as I at first thought they would. They love to be out eating weeds and bugs.

They come in every night just before dark. Seems they are coming in a bit earlier this past few weeks. Only occasionally have I had one not come in and I just scoop them up and take them in.

They really do take care of themselves after we have protected them. Only predator I really worry about is the hawks.
