Will this be enough ventilation?

My neighbor gave us their wooden doghouse that measures 3.5'x4' My husband is converting it into a sort of "back-up" coop for me. I will use it when I get chicks and they are too big for the brooder but too young to go out with the "big girls". Right now I want to use it to put my hens in for a few weeks. They will only be in there to sleep and go lay. During the day they will be out in the yard free-ranging.

How can I tell if we have enough ventilation? My husband installed a low roost so our ventilation holes will be sure to be over their heads. He drilled 10 holes (5 on each side, across from one another near the peak of the roof) that are 2" in diameter each.

Will those 10 two-inch holes be enough ventilation? If not, how much more do we need? A window in the door maybe? That won't be above their head.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
CJ
