Or does this mean she's laying or will be soon?
I asked a similar question yesterday.
They kinda know when it's "time". Our roo is probably 6 weeks older than the girls, and he pampered and coddled them til they were about 18 weeks, then he put his foot down. They started laying at 20 - 21 weeks. He's still a gentleman, but what he wants he gets.
Quote:Thanks. I just saw my polish roo mate my silkie who's about 22 weeks. So maybe she's close.
My cochin rooster has been mating with hens for months, I finally got the first egg 2 days ago.
Quote:LOL! Same here. A good rooster will mate with pretty much any hen that is too slow to get away.....heck, our beagle is even nervous around our roos!
Yes he will; My roo mates first thing upon leaving the coop and over and over throughout the day. 8 hens and 1 lucky roo.
