Wind and Snow Protection

I found a way to protect my 3 hens from winter wind and snow by adding clear shower liners to their run. Works great and hens can still see what's happening all around them.

Nice coop. Just love the idea. I’m hoping I could find something for mine but I have chain link. I need to find clear tarps with grommets...I don’t think there is such a thing.

Google is your friend. Even Amazon sells clear tarps. However, as aart said, those clear tarps are pricey. Pack them away carefully in the summer.

We used 6 mil plastic from home depot last year. Worked great. But was not very clear. Already bought the dollar store clear curtains. Will wait a while to put them in place. Here are a couple pictures from last year. You can see some snow gets in. But they came out every day and had opportunity to scratch the deep bedding.

I need to find clear tarps with grommets...I don’t think there is such a thing.

Oh, they are out there, pricey tho.
Could always add your own grommets.

Got the plastic on the coops this afternoon. Got new pine shavings inside and in the run. Will add hay to the run all during the winter. Got stock tank deicer plugged in. I think we're ready for winter.

I also use clear vinyl shower curtains. This year found them at the dollar store.

I use 4 to 6 mil plastic sheeting(depending on what is available at the hardware store). Not exactly see threw but definitely keeps it warmer in the dead of winter especially if the sun is out. keeps the light in when we turn the Christmas lights on so we can play outside before dawn. It's like $30 for a 10x100 box and can be reused if you attach and detach properly.
