We got 4 adult red chickens 5 mos ago and their wings were clipped. They can't get up and roost at night (we have a secure coop- they just sleep on the floor), and I've noticed the feathers don't seem to be growing back. Is it possible that they were clipped too low and they'll never grow back? We got them from some pretty bad conditions too. They were in solid MUD with no access to dry dirt or grass.

The feathers will be replaced when they go through the yearly molt, if they are over a year old they should still molt this year, otherwise they won't until next fall, if they were obtained from bad conditions they may need extra protein to recover. So it depends on how old they are whether they will get their wing feathers back this year or next.
