Until I've found a house (and I don't even start making my trek up to NY until next week), I won't know what I have to work with, but I'm planning on needing to make a new duck and chicken coop. I'd like to combine them if I can, especially for the first winter as there is only one chicken left :(

I can use fence boards to build (the current huts are, garden beds are, turtle pen is... but not the fence lol)

I like this and can build this on my own.
My concern - winter temps and winds. Fence boards aren't straight cut all the time so there will be small gaps. Is that something I'd need to be concerned about, or should it be fine if there are very small gaps from not perfect boards?

With 5 ducks and 1 chicken (and then I'll add another chicken or two back in), will they keep warm enough on cold nights with that much space?

That's cute how big is it? wondering if there would be a way to fill gaps, well vented is fine.. drafty is not.
