Winter Treat Recipes ❄️🌨️

Oooh I bet your chickens loved that! I like freezing any extra goat's milk I have into a semi hard slushy block and letting them peck at it in the summer! I usually do warm mashes with some of my goat's alfalfa hay since it's high in protein. They love anything corn too. I also give them the small suet blocks made for wild birds since it's fat and grain- they go crazy!

I don't usually give my chooks treats however if it is really cold I mash up household scraps and a handful of chooks pellet up with warm watter and they like it. Haven't done it for 2 years lol we don't have super cold winters in NZ

Yeah, I do hot mash too!
Stir in old leftovers from the fridge, a bit of scratch, and a handful of mealworms!
Sometimes some nuts or seeds, and alfalfa cubes from the goats!

@MamaPoult, what is a suet block?

We usually like to give them warm mash, warm scrambled eggs with shredded coconut, soldier fly worms, or a cabbage or some kale hanging in their coop they can pick at to help keep them occupied during the boring winter months :)
