I was wondering for what to do in the winter.
I have a 75 gallon water trough and I was wondering if ducks need a pool for winter?
And I use the 7 gallon poultry water dish thing what could I use in stead of that?
    * I know I can put a heater in the trough but is that safe?

No, you don't need to keep a pool for ducks in winter... just a bowl or bucket deep enough for them to dunk their heads to clear their nares and eyes... I use the rubber horse feed bowls and simply turn them over and knock out the ice to refill them as needed...

On days that are above freezing, fill up something they can take a bath in. They'll appreciate the opportunity for a quick bath. :)
