So my friend volunteers at a cat rescue that I think maybe her mom runs, not sure, and there's a pet store in front but I don't know how big or anything.

But anyway, she just DM'd (direct message aka private) me on Twitter with this

And I just, I know it's supposed to be a cute, fun, thing but I just couldn't help noticing the wire floor and feeling bad for them.

Unless it's not bad? But I thought that I had heard it was?

But I just didn't know if it was bad?

Also, i cant figure out the breeds. I know the black one is probably an Australorp but cant figure the others out

Edited to remove some stuff and add i did tell her and apparently she doesn't actually work at the pet store part, just the cat part, and they're stubborn so nothing can be done :(

Edited again to clarify that while in Massachusetts my friend is actually in California.

It looks fine to me. More concerning than the wire floor is the newspaper. That's too slick for baby chicks and can cause splay leg and slipped tendons.

Ahhh okay. So the wire floor isn't an issue? I thought I had read it can hurt their feet or something. Completely forgot about the newspaper I guess cause i was so worried about having a solid floor didn't notice what kind of solid floor aha maybe i will mention something

Thats the conversation and apparently she doesn't work there, just volunteers at the cat place, which I hadn't realized but hopefully she either tells them or they change it on their own or they're adopted fast enough. Either way they are soooo cute. Anyone know breeds though still?

The reds are probably production reds, or possibly hatchery RIR or even New Hampshire.

That makes sense. I thought about that but then I wasn't sure since the wings dont look solid? But maybe the change as the grow? I know the black one is probably an Australorp
