Ok this is an old barn that sits on my poperty, it already has electricity. It is 30ft long by 30ft wide. The back wall on the left is busted, the roof in the back on far right has caved in and it has dead wood and drafts! What I want to do is clear out all the junk, repair the roof and wall put insulation tarp around the walls to stop the draft!
And then run chicken wire across the front and put in a gate! The wire would be floor to ceiling. And I'll put hardware cloth over the first two feet!
And put in roosts and nest boxes and maybe put 2x4 around the bottom of the beams and put pine shaving in that side!

Who thinks this is a good idea or is even worth it? They would be only in there and wouldn't free range but since its so huge hope they won't need to.

So any opinions?

i think it would be more than adequate. just a little elbow grease and sweat

wow, will be getting thanked by the chickens if refurbish that barn for them, thats an incredibly wide space-woud love to have a project like that for mine.
get some friends involved to make it easier, they will probably refuse being paid,or if if friendship isnt enough and they want paying-pay them in eggs.

please take photos of the project at each step-itd be great to see it slowly emerge into chuck manor.
